Ex-Bulldog Star Pleads Not Guilty to String of Robberies

(KMJ) Former Fresno State star football player, Derrick Ward, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to committing a string of robberies in southern California.

According to police, the Super Bowl champ did not use a gun in his alleged robberies, but he is accused of using force and fear to take money from businesses. His bail was set at $250,000.

After a prolific college career at running back for the Bulldogs, Ward spent 8 years in the NFL playing for the NY Giants, Tampa Bay and Houston.

Tiki Barber, who played alongside ward in New York, called the situation “sad” in an interview with the NY Post.

A breakout season and Super Bowl title with the Giants earned Ward a $17 million contract with the Bucs.
