Student Fires Gel Gun In School Bus, Flees Out Window

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN/KMJ) — The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has detained the student they say fired a toy “gel blaster” gun toward a school bus driver.

The incident happened at Sierra and Warren in Northwest Fresno, near Bullard High.

Deputies say the bus was headed for the school when the student, who was actually suspended on Monday, fired the gel blaster gun toward the driver, hitting the windshield.

When the driver pulled over, the teen with the toy gun bailed out a window and ran.

Deputies later located the boy on the Bullard campus and detained him.  He had a gel blaster on him and left another one behind on the bus.

Authorities say the student was suspended for firing the same type of toy gun on campus.

No one was injured in either incident.

The boy has been booked into juvenile hall on 13 counts of assault and battery.  The Orbeez (water based gel balls) struck 13 students.  They were not injured.
