(KMJ) – Madera Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, in connection with vandalism in Oakhurst on Sunday night.
Deputies say the suspects allegedly vandalized two vehicles owned by Yosemite High School Junior Varsity soccer coach Victor Salazar. They did so by smearing paint, mustard, and feces on them as well as writing things including “faggot”, “go back to Mexico” and “cut my grass better…”
The Madera County Sheriff’s Department says its ongoing investigation revealed that initial media coverage of the incident may have scared the suspects into contacting the victim to try to apologize for their actions. And they did so in the hope that they wouldn’t get in trouble.
Both juveniles were booked into the Madera County Juvenile Hall for felony vandalism and committing a hate crime.
