(KMJ) A Hollywood superstar is producing a feature film about a famed doctor with deep ties to Fresno.
The screenplay is being written right now about the true life story of Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa – better known as “Doctor Q”.
He was an illegal immigrant from Mexico who made his way to Fresno in his teens. He found work on local farms and on the railroad where he was nearly killed in a work accident. He survived, saved his money and learning English.
He went on to UC Berkeley and Harvard Medical School where also became an American citizen.
Today Dr. Q is a professor of neurosurgery and oncology at Johns Hopkins where he serves as a top brain surgeon.
The film is being produced by Disney and Brad Pitt’s production company – Plan B.
