FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California’s largest reservoir, Shasta Lake, has reached 100 percent of its historic average.
The recent storms have boosted the crucial water source by billions of gallons, to 77 percent of its capacity.
At full volume, the 21-mile reservoir has enough water for 23 million people a year.
Meanwhile, the Golden State’s second-largest reservoir, Oroville, is up to 96 percent of its historic average.
Although reservoir levels are recovering, California groundwater levels remain low, following 4 years of substantial pumping.
The State Water Resources Control Board is expected to meet next month, to determine what restrictions will be imposed this summer.
