FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Unplanned pregnancies have fallen significantly in recent years, according to research published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Declines can be seen among women of all age, income, and ethnicity groups.
Less than 45 percent of pregnancies were unintended in 2011, compared to 51 percent in 2008.
The United States, historically, has had one of the highest rates, among developed nations.
However, researchers say there’s been increased and more effective use of birth control.
