FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Drinking coffee could help combat the type of liver damage, commonly associated with overindulging in food and alcohol.

British researchers say in a study involving more than 430,000 participants, drinking 4 additional cups of coffee per day, as linked to a 65 percent lower risk of developing cirrhosis of the liver.

However, the findings don’t suggest that sugary lattes are the way to go.

Additionally, it’s not yet clear just how coffee may improve liver health.
