FRESNO (KMJ) — The family of one of the teenagers killed just outside Easton is now asking those responsible to reflect on what they’ve done.
At 11.40pm Friday night, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a call to what would become the fourth double homicide in the county this year. Deputies say a disturbance broke out at a party and shots were fired. There were as many as 125 people there and two of them lost their lives.
The two victims in the shooting were 19 year old Kayla De Borde and 17 year old William Harris. Both come from Fresno.
“[He was] very outgoing, always smiling”, says William’s Uncle, Kingsburg’s Fire Chief Tim Ray. “Especially just recently he seemed to be doing quite well. Last time I talked to him was at Christmas. Probably one of the best conversations I’ve ever had with him”.
“Everything was a ‘yes sir’, ‘no sir’. Very polite, asking him what he thought he wanted to do. He said he’d like to become a police officer and work in public service.”
The next step is to pay for funeral expenses.
“It’s a big concern”, continues Tim Ray. He says his sister, William’s mother, never thought she’d have to have money set aside for that. “Nobody really prepares for that, or at least she wasn’t able to prepare for that”.
“Everybody’s pretty well heartbroken. My sister’s pretty devastated. She is struggling with it. I mean obviously, she lost her youngest son”.
There is a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of laying both victims to rest. A link to help William can be found clicking here, and a link to help Kayla can be found clicking here.
