FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — 62 percent of Californians say the Golden State is not doing enough to regulate access to guns.

That’s according to a new Public Policy Institute of California poll, which also found 35 percent believe the government is overly restrictive when it comes to firearms.

57 percent are concerned about the threat of a mass shooting, and more than half of adults say violence and street crime is an ongoing problem in their community.

Gun sales hit a record at the end of 2015, and there’s been increased demand for concealed carry permits.
