IRS Employee Pleads Guilty To Tax Fraud

TAX FRAUD

January 11, 2016 (KMJ) Fresno – An employee of the IRS pleads guilty to tax fraud.

Court documents show Yolanda Castro was employed by the IRS for approximately 20 years, including as a tax examiner and contact representative, but the 48 year-old got in trouble with the IRS, herself.

Between 2007 and 2013, Castro prepared and filed false federal income tax returns for herself, her family members and others –in which she fraudulently claimed tax deductions and credits – using phony receipts for education and child care expenses that never took place.

Castro pleaded guilty to aiding and assisting in the preparation of a false tax return.

She faces up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
