SAN DIEGO (AP) – A shootout with San Diego police ended with one man dead and an officer wounded.
The U-T San Diego reports that a freeway pursuit ended in gunfire Sunday in the Serra Mesa area.
Police say the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot at them while fleeing on foot. One officer was shot in the upper torso. She was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.
At least two officers returned fire and the suspect was killed. A police spokesman said at least one officer was equipped with a body camera.
Police are investigating whether the suspect was connected to a series of six shootings that had been reported in Kearny Mesa this year.
