Fresno Mayor Announces Summerset Repairs Fast-tracked

Mayor on repairs

(KMJ) December 3, 2015 – Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin announces an aggressive timeline for repairs at the Summerset Village Apartments saying the apartments will have heat again in the next two weeks.

“The property owner [Chris Henry] has hired Regency Property Management to come in and completely take over not only the urgent gas line repairs but also the complete renovations of these units.” – Mayor Ashley Swearengin.

Regency will manage the Summerset Village Apartments for the next year.

It’s estimated it will cost landlord Chris Henry a million dollars to bring the building up to city code.

Regency is fast tracking the repairs – bringing in a superintendent on site to oversee the gasline work and the individual renovations to the 220 units.

There are 180 pages of code violations, and 1,100 actual violations, and the landlord owes the city a quarter of a million dollars in city fees.

The mayor says legal action is not being taken at this point, the city legal counsel is advising on the case, and retains that option to sue in the future if Henry does not meet his obligations.
