It’s time to talk some turkey… talk a lot of turkey….
2000 turkeys – that’s how many thanksgiving birds the Poverello House hopes to see.
They have a lot of mouths to feed, serving 1600 meals a day and on Thanks giving 800 meals.
Table Mountain Rancheria was trying to help Poverello House meet their goal by donating 290 turkeys to the shelter so that on Thanksgiving they can provide a special meal.
For 42 years, The Poverello House in Downtown Fresno has been offering a place to sleep and food for the city’s homeless and less fortunate.
For families that are struggling it can bring back a sense of normality for those finding themselves in an uncomfortable situation to be able to eat turkey and the trimming on a holiday meant for thanks.
You can always give a little bit of your time by volunteering.
The Poverello House needs more turkeys along with food, blankets, monetary donations and clothing; sweaters and coats are needed.
