(KMJ) – Fresno City Councilmembers Lee Brand, Oliver Baines and others are demanding more transparency at Fresno City Hall. Both men say it is now needed after Mayor Ashley Swearengin approved bonuses to senior City officials without notifying members of the Council. The Mayor’s office denies the accusation.
The pair have written a resolution which will then be brought up for City Council approval at the November 12th meeting. It looks to amend provisions of Brand’s “Transparency in City Government Act” adopted by the Council in 2010.

The proposed amendments will offer significant changes that will provide more transparency in the budget approval process. If passed, approval of an employee compensation disclosure report will be integrated into the budget approval process.
And this, they say, will compel disclosure of any bonuses or other unreported compensation to City officials and require Council approval.
