FRESNO (KMJ) — The winner of the Downtown Fresno Partnership’s Create Here Business Plan Competition has been announced.

“The winner receives a prize package worth over $100,000″, says Executive Director of organizer ‘The Downtown Fresno Partnership’ Gretchen Moore, “and it includes free rent in a Downtown space for a year.”

That prize goes to House of Pendragon/Pita Kabob. The winning business plan calls for a gastropub featuring a collaboration of the popular Sanger Brewery House of Pendragon and Visalia eatery Pita Kabob.

“This was an incredibly tough decision, but our panel of judges felt that House of Pendragon/Pita Kabob best met the selection criteria of the competition. We are very excited about the added vitality and  energy that House of Pendragon/Pita Kabob will bring to downtown Fresno.”

“This was a way to help inform people that Downtown is an exciting place and it’s a really friendly place for investment.”

In a statement, the companies say they couldn’t be more excited, and wanted toto thank the Downtown Fresno Foundation for allowing them the opportunity to create something truly special.

They also extend their thanks to everyone who voted for them as part of the public vote.

The concept won out after 22 entrepreneurs initially entered the competition back in July. The new site is expected to employ 30 people in Downtown Fresno.
