FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The University of California’s top researchers say the plan outlines what action the state and the rest of globe needs to take to combat climate change, including reducing the carbon footprint of the wealthiest 1 billion.
They say global warming could be slowed dramatically by reducing greenhouse gasses, such as methane emissions, by 50%, and black carbon, by 90%, over the the next 15 years.
The wealthy need to cut back, while green energy needs to made more available to the poorest 3 billion people.
UC President Janet Napolitano and Governor Jerry Brown are discussing the plan this week at a climate change summit in San Diego.
