FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Patients seeking to take advantage of the Golden State’s new physician-assisted suicide law will have to wait until at least April of 2016.
Since the bill was passed during a special legislative session, it cannot take effect until 91 days after the session ends, which will be in January, at the earliest.
Additionally, the secretary of state says opponents of the End of Life Option Act have been cleared to begin gathering signatures, for a referendum to have it overturned.
