The Next Big Thing: A Superstorm

rain stormThe drought is not our only problem … KMJ’s Michael Knight reports when it does rain it could be a Superstorm.

Even in the drought there is one group wondering what will happen in California when the skies open WITH rain and rain and more rain … the first problem is going to be flooding.

… the nonprofit Bay Area Council says the region is so dry it is unprepared for the super-storm that might break the drought and which they call inevitable. The storm, which would drop 12 inches of rain in a week, would cause more than $10 billion in economic damage and is predicted to occur once every 150 years DROUGHT OR NOT … According to the report, the flood would be concentrated in northern California affecting 355,000 residents and $46.2 billion in assets …

However, If the predicted El Nino flows bring a series of rain storms this winter and they are similar to the last El Nino rain pattern it could bring rain to Los Angeles County that created the wettest rainy season since the 1880’s. In California it’s all or nothing, welcome to the land of superdroughts ands superstorms.
