(KMJ) A 17 year old boy is recovering after being shot by a Fresno Police Officer early Saturday morning.
Investigators say the teen had carjacked a woman at a convenience store around 2am at Clinton & Blythe.
Officers spotted the stolen SUV about a half hour later and a high speed chase ensued. The teen, armed with a loaded handgun, crashed the SUV into a parked vehicle and tried to escape on foot.
The pursuing officer fired two rounds at the suspect, wounding him. Investigators say the teen’s gun had one expended round and the hammer was cocked at the time he was shot by the officer.
The suspect is listed in critical but stable condition. The officer is on paid administrative leave while the investigation goes forward.
