Kern County officials say at least nine people sought medical treatment for ailments including headaches and nausea after they were possibly exposed to pesticide.

Agricultural Commissioner Ruben Arroyo said this week that his agency and poison control officials are investigating the incident reported Friday morning near Lost Hills.

Arroyo tells KBAK-TV that officials are interviewing as many as 40 people, mostly construction workers at a solar plant, who felt symptoms and reported an odor.

Officials have confirmed one application of the insecticide Danitol about a half-mile from the construction site but it has not been confirmed as the cause.

Investigators are contacting all growers in the area to check if they made any applications that morning. They are also looking at weather conditions in the area at the time.
