Coalition Talks with White House Country Meat Labels

A coalition of family farmers, ranchers, consumer groups and trade groups recently met with White House and U.S. Trade Representative officials to urge support for Country-of-Origin Labeling.

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson reminded officials of the recent Auburn University study that demonstrated an economic downturn caused decreased demand for cattle imports to the U.S. not COOL.

Johnson says America needs to stay the course on COOL because cattle exports to the U.S. are subject to a number of variables independent of COOL’s implementation.
