Fresno Airport Boss, Henry Thompson Passes Away

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Fresno city hall announced the passing of Henry Thompson on Monday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Henry L. Thompson, Director of Aviation for the City of Fresno.”

The California native, with more than 35 years of aviation experience, was hired to run FYI in December 2021. He succeeded Kevin Meikle, who retired.

Before arriving in Fresno, Thompson worked at San Francisco International, Mineta-San Jose International and served as director of the Santa Barbara Airport.

City Manager Georgeanne White’s statement went on to say “On behalf of myself and Mayor Dyer, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Henry’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. During his time leading Fresno Yosemite International Airport, Henry was a leader whose expertise and commitment helped guide the airport through significant growth and development. His focus on improving the travel experience for our community and advancing the airport’s long-term goals left a lasting impact.”
