
Hanford, CA – The Kings County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a homicide that occurred in the 8500 block of Curtis St. in the Hanford area on May 9th, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Scott Scilagyi, has been taken into custody in connection with the death of his mother, Donna Scilagyi.
Deputies responded to a call for service for a welfare check at approximately 7:30 am and discovered the victim deceased at the scene.
The suspect was apprehended without incident and is currently being held at Kings County jail pending formal charges by the District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators say the suspect attacked and murdered his mother during an argument at their residence.
“This is a heartbreaking case, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” said Assistant Sheriff C. Barsteceanu. “We are committed to ensuring justice is served and will continue working closely with the District Attorney’s Office as the case progresses.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
