FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Annalisa Perea is attempting to follow in her big brother’s footsteps by winning a seat in the California Assembly.
The Fresno City Councilmember announced her bid for the 31st Assembly district seat on Wednesday. That position is currently held by Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) who has set his sights on landing a spot on the Fresno City Council when he terms out in 2026.

Her brother, Henry T. Perea, served in the Assembly from 2010-2015. He stepped down before his term ended to become a lobbyist for Chevron.
Local social justice advocate Sandra Celedon and retiree Jim Polsgrove are also reportedly running for the position.
SJVSun.com was first to report Perea’s announcement.
