FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The feds are cracking down on illegal operations that help pregnant foreigners give birth in the U.S.
It’s called “maternity tourism,” an unlawful practice that allows pregnant Chinese women to deliver their babies here in America, where they’ll automatically become citizens.
Federal agents have raided 20 suspected maternity hotels down in Southern California.
No arrests have been made; but, investigators believe there’s evidence of fraud.
