Buchanan Honored in The State Assembly

doc buchananFresno Assemblyman Jim Patterson adjourned the California State Assembly on Thursday in memory of former Clovis Unified Superintendent Doc Buchanan.

Patterson said in part: “I ask you to join me to adjourn in memory of a man whose dedication to excellence in education spanned 31 years, touching the life of every student who stepped foot in a Clovis Unified School District classroom.

“In 1960 Floyd “Doc” Buchanan became the first Superintendent of a small school district which only had about 5,000 students. Today Clovis Unified has more than 40,000 students and has many of the best academic and sports programs in the nation. Much of that is because of Doc’s role as a “hands-on” Superintendent.”

Floyd “Doc” Buchanan passed away earlier this month from natural causes. He was 91 years old.
