Defendant in Killing of Visalia CHP Officer Takes Plea Deal

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The man accused of causing a crash on the Las Vegas strip that killed a Visalia CHP officer and his brother-in-law, has taken a second-degree plea deal.

31-year-old James Montgomery stole Officer Jesus Magdaleno Jr's truck and crashed it, as Magdaleno and his brother-in-law, Felix Cruz III, were in the bed.

Montgomery faces 20 years to life in prison.
