FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A CHP Helicopter safely transports stranded boaters off of the San Joaquin River.
At 1:30 pm Wednesday, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a capsized canoe on the San Joaquin River.
Two young men had launched it from Lost Lake and their watercraft later flipped.
They had life jackets, but were not wearing them.
They were able to get out of the water to a safe place, an island in the middle of the river.
Due to the flowing water, they could not safely cross over the river to get to shore.
H40 – the CHP helicopter -flew over and spotted them.
They were able to land and transport them out to a spot near the Lost Lake campground.
No one was injured.
