FCSD SWAT Nabs Road Rage Suspect After Standoff

A wild, high-speed chase and standoff came to a peaceful end early Tuesday morning in Orange Cove.

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joshua Heinrichs after the parolee allegedly fired multiple shots at a truck during a road rage incident on Reed Ave and Adams Ave. in Reedley on Monday night.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Deputies say Heinrichs was speeding at 100 mph after the shooting when they deployed a spike strip at Hwy. 180 & Academy. Heinrichs ran over the strip and sparks began flying as his tires blew out. But, according to investigators, the Reedley man gained even more speed – reaching 117 mph.

FCSD says Heinrichs ditched his deflated Honda and hid out in an apartment on Adams Ave. in Orange Cove. Deputies surrounded the complex and SWAT was called to the scene.

“Several hours were spent trying to convince everyone in the apartment to exit, but they refused. A search warrant was secured and at 5:30 am SWAT members prepared to enter the apartment. At this time, two women walked out the front door and were detained. Heinrichs escaped through a back window and tried climbing down to a nearby building. SWAT members who were positioned there were able to take him into custody” according to a FCSD news release.\
