FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The CDC relaxes guidelines for masks on Friday, however, not all areas are in the clear.

The vast majority of Americans will no longer live in areas where indoor masking in public is recommended based on current data.

According to the CDC map, however, there is still a high level of transmission of COVID-19 for California residents.

The CDC says everyone in Fresno County should wear a mask in public, indoor settings.

Most counties are still in the red, including here in the Central Valley from Merced to Fresno to Kings County …down to Los Angeles people are still advised to wear masks.

Only a small number of counties — mostly along the Nevada border in the mountains — are in the lesser substantial transmission zone.

The CDC says mask requirements might vary from place to place.

Make sure you follow local laws, rules, regulations or guidance.
