FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Valley lawmakers want to tackle the shortage of doctors.
Democratic California Assemblyman Adam Gray of Merced, and Republican Senator Anthony Cannella of Ceres, have introduced a bipartisan proposal.
The legislation would expand enrollment at UC Merced’s medical school partnership with UC Davis.
Gray and Cannella say there are simply not enough doctors in this region.
In addition, access to healthcare is 31% lower than the rest of the state.
