FRESNO (KMJ) — A former astronaut has dropped in to a valley school – to inspire the children to dream it big.
Veteran of three Space Shuttle missions Colonel Mike Mullane hopes his talk will inspire some future engineers and astronauts.
He was at Houghton Kearney K-8 School as part of PG&E's employee leadership program.
Student Joshua Young says the talk really spoke to him. "When I hear dream big – I think to go for all your dreams. So far I want to be a scientist because it seems really fun".
Colonel Mullane says he's no stranger to striving towards what he wants. "I was setting very lofty goals for myself when very young. Took care of my body – got a great education – and that opened a lot of doors".
He says his career is living proof that dreams can come true.
