FRESNO (KMJ) — Fresno residents are among the chosen few across the United States who can now get Google to estimate how much money they can save using solar panels.
It’s all about using the information the search engine already has on your home, thanks to it’s maps and earth services, to determine how much potential your roof has.
You can put in your average monthly electric bill and it comes up with how much you can save with a 20 year solar panel lease.
“Right now we’re just starting with a few places”, says the Project Sunroof promo video. “Boston where the sunroof team is from, the San Francisco Bay Area where Google is from, and Fresno where one of engineer’s mom is from”.
So with an average monthly electric bill of $125 dollars, the roof of the Radio City building on Fresno’s Palm and Shaw could generate $12,000 in savings. Although our electricity bill is certainly higher than any $125 a month.
But you get the idea and you can type in your address and determine how much you can save. The link to Project Sunroof can be found clicking here.
