FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — High-Speed Rail is among his top priorities, But Governor Jerry Brown says maintaining California’s roads is also vital.

As he enters his fourth term, Brown is calling on lawmakers

to make repairing the golden state’s crumbling roads a main goal.

The state faces $59 billion in deferred maintenance, with the price of long-term transportation needs costing even more.

Republicans say they largely support large and expensive repairs to California’s roads, which are among the worst in the nation.

However, they’re strongly opposed to brown’s support of other major projects, such as the bullet train.
