(KMJ) – A suspect sought in a February 2016 Fresno County kidnapping case is tracked down and arrested in Mexico.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says now 44-year old Miguel Carrideo was one of several masked men who kidnapped a 13-year old girl after she got off a school bus and was walking home near Shepherd and Academy. The teen was then tied to a tree and beaten during the February 16, 2016 incident. She managed to free herself and walk over a mile to find a homeowner and call for help.
Later than month, Sheriff’s Detectives made three arrests in connection to this case after learning is was not a random act. But a fourth suspect, Carriedo, fled to Mexico to avoid capture.
Earlier this year, the Sheriff’s Office partnered with the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and their Mexican law enforcement counterparts.
On August 25th, Carriedo was located at a home in Puerto Vallarta where Mexican law enforcement took him into custody. The next day he was returned to California. transported to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and later booked into jail.
He is being held on a no bail warrant for conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
