The United States should focus its efforts on destabilizing North Korea's cash flow – and the suggestion from a California Congressman comes with a plan.
U.S. Representative Ed Royce says now is the time for the international community to put the pressure on Pyongyang.
The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs says he wants sanctions placed on the country – in response to the recent cyberattack on Sony and what he calls efforts to bring down South Korea's banking system.
He wants legislation put on the President's desk to cut off North Korea's access to funds – in the hope of shutting down both their nuclear weapons program and their alleged hacking training center.
“When we go back into session, I think we’re going to put that legislation on the president’s desk and the reason is to cut off their access to funds so that it shuts down, not just their nuclear weapons program, it’ll also shut down this Bureau 121, where they train hackers,” he said.
But cyber security experts warn that it may not be the best way to work with the country – especially when they have a proven capability to do damage.
