Deputies Save Fresno County Man Choking on His Easter Sunday Meal

(KMJ) – Fast action from a trio of Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies saves the life of a man choking on his Easter Sunday meal.

Here’s how the Sheriff’s Office described the incident:

Sunday afternoon, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a 911 call from someone saying their family member was choking on a piece of meat. The 44 year old man was turning blue and eventually went unconscious. Fortunately, three deputies were in the general area. All of them responded code 3 (lights and siren) and arrived at the home in approximately 10 minutes. The location is just outside Kerman in an area known as Alkalai Flats. The three deputies teamed up to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on the man, causing him to spit out the meat, thus clearing his airway. An ambulance arrived and medical responders treated the man. He is now in good spirits.
