Big California Walnut Crop

A larger than expected walnut crop could drive down prices for California farmers.

The California Walnut Board, according to the Stockton Record is reporting that handlers have received a lot more crop than originally forecast.

Back in September, the United States Department of Agriculture was forecasting 545,000 tons.

Just recently, 558,000 thousand tons have been sent to handlers with more expected by final count.

That would set a new record.

That may also push down prices.
