(AP/KMJ) A man accused of killing five of his infant children decades ago has pleaded not guilty. Paul Perez, 57, appeared in court Tuesday, a day after he was charged with five counts of premeditated murder with special circumstances of lying in wait, torture and multiple victims. The children were born between 1992 and 2001. His public defender, Tracie Olson, said there are still a lot of unknowns in the case. Three of the bodies have not been recovered. Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig said Perez is eligible for the death penalty but he has not decided whether to pursue it. Two of the still-missing children were reportedly born in Fresno and another in Merced.
