(KMJ) – The Merced County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for the suspect who opened fire on deputies Wednesday in Dos Palos.
The Sheriff’s Office sought to arrest 51-year old Guadalupe Lopez-Herrea for domestic violence at a home near Eucalypyus and Highway 33. But that’s when Deputies say he opened fire while hiding in near-by bushes. He struck a Sheriff’s sergeant in the chest, but his body armor saved his life.
Lopez-Herrea then fled the scene and reportedly carjacked a pick-up truck. It’s described as white GMC Sierra crew cab with CA license plate: 25599H1.
