(KMJ) – Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says his department responded to four separate shootings late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. And three of those incidents happened less than 30 minutes apart.
The most deadly of the shootings happened just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday near Ashlan and Fruit in Central Fresno. There, five people were inside a car when two men came up to them and told them to leave. The suspects then opened fire on the vehicle with a handgun and an assault rifle. The driver drove through a wall and sent the car into a near-by canal to escape the gun fire.
Fresno police say the shooting left two people – 19-year old Kiera Austin and 20-year old Brian Maxey, dead and wounded Queshawn Maxey.
One person was injured in the three other shootings across the city. Fresno Police believe all of these incidents are gang related.
Now investigators ask anyone with information on any of these incidents to call Valley Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
