FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A mutilated animal, and broken glass was left as a Downtown Fresno church is struck by vandals on Halloween.
On Thursday, staff at the Cornerstone Church were readying for the night, when thousands of trunk or treaters were expected.
Pastor Jim Franklin says around 2:00 p.m., they found the glass window had been shattered at the historic Wilson Theatre ticket booth.
Church staff then discovered a mutilated animal outside.
“As we began to look around we found on the stage door entrance – a mutilated bird that had been there been dissected and left,” said Pastor Franklin. “This is a pretty common occult practices, especially on Halloween.”
It’s not the first time the church has had mutilated animals left at its gates.
Pastor Franklin stated it is sad to see churches still being targeted, with all the violence seen across our nation.
“And that’s why the faith community needs to come together — the community as a whole — and say ‘we are not going to stand for this violence,'” said Pastor Franklin.
When asked if this would in any way deter the events for tonight Pastor Franklin stated “no, we are not going to allow the actions of a few to deter us from helping the many”.
