Mayor Ashley Swearengin and officials from Habitat For Humanity in Fresno County joined local residents, and area children to dedicate the new Almy Street Playground and Park in Southwest Fresno.

The $545,000 investment was funded with $345,000 in private sector investments from Wells Fargo, Pacific Gas and Electric, Cargill Beef, Darling International, the Fresno Regional Foundation, and hundreds of local donors.

The City of Fresno, though its Community Development Block grant funding, is providing over $800,000 in the FY2016 budget for street improvements to allow better access to much-needed green space in Southwest Fresno.

“Five years ago, we started working on this playground by coming together, 25 different partners, families with children, residents, civic leaders to work on creating a playground where kids could play exercise and have fun.” – Sabrina Kelley, Community Development Manager, Habitat for Humanity.
