Congressman Devin Nunes Speaks To KMJ About Memo

FRESNO, CA (KMJ ) – Congressman Devin Nunes spoke to KMJ Wednesday about the memo on the Russia investigation that President Trump wants to release to the public.

Congressman Devin Nunes was calling into KMJ, saying he and other Valley lawmakers (Reps. Jeff Denham & David Valadao) riding on the GOP charted train were OK. The train collision with a garbage truck Wednesday in Virginia killed one person and injured others.

Guest host Jim Franklin asked Nunes, the U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman, about the classified GOP memo that alleges abuse of surveillance powers by the Justice Department.

KMJ Guest Host Jim Franklin: “Can you tell me about the memo? When is it going to be released from the White House, do you think?”

Congressman Devin Nunes: “I don’t know. I know the White House has said that they intend to get it out, so I think they are working through that process so I can’t say if it’s going to be today, tomorrow or next week.”

Democrats have called it a group of selectively edited GOP talking points that are attempting to distract from the Committee’s own investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Speaking to KMJ, Representative Nunes said; “The American people will have a decision to make. Do they think capabilities that we have as a government to conduct intelligence on foreigners to keep our country safe, should those be used against a political campaign, yes or no?”

The FBI In a statement Wednesday, saying it has “grave concerns” about omissions in the memo.

The U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman called the objections from the FBI and Justice Department “spurious.”

Nunes, a Republican, made the following statement: “Having stonewalled Congress’ demands for information for nearly a year, it’s no surprise to see the FBI and DOJ issue spurious objections to allowing the American people to see information related to surveillance abuses at these agencies.”
