Legislation Would Expand Abortion Services for CA College Students

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The bill, making its way through the legislature, would require health centers on University of California and California State University campuses, to provide “non-surgical abortion services.”

It comes from Democratic Senator Connie Leyva, who claims more than 400,000 women attending the UC and CSU systems need access to drugs which can create a response similar to an early miscarriage, within 10 weeks of pregnancy.

The measure cleared the Senate Health Committee on Wednesday; it’s now off to the Appropriations Committee.
