Search Continues For Missing South Valley Inmate

(KMJ) The search continues for a South Valley inmate who went missing from the Taft Correctional Institution.

Officials from that facility say just after 11 a.m. Saturday, staff discovered that 29-year-old Javier Torres was missing from the institution’s satellite camp facility during a count.

Law enforcement agencies were then contacted to assist in finding him.

Torres is described as  5’11” with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 310 lbs. He has a scar on his right hand.
He was sentenced on Aug. 1 in the Central District of California to 120 months in federal custody after he was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and import.
Torres was put into the satellite camp on Aug. 25, with a projected release date of August 22, 2025.

Now Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call law enforcement, the FBI or the U.S. Marshals Service.
