Calif. Clean Car Rebates Legislation Likely to Empower Unions

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California lawmakers are considering a last-minute measure, which would require state regulators to draft a means of determining whether automakers treat their employees fairly and responsibly, before their clean vehicles are eligible for rebates.

It comes as luxury electric automaker Tesla, and Nissan, are engaged in labor disputes.

If the bill were to be signed into law, unions would have more bargaining power, as automakers rely on rebates to make their sales pitch.
