MORRO BAY, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say two California transients were arrested after they were found with a decomposing body in their SUV.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office says the couple’s 13-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle when the couple was arrested Tuesday in the beach town of Cayucos. She was handed over to child welfare services.
Deputies checked out the SUV because it was parked the wrong way on a street and detected a strong odor.
59-year-old Darwin Keith Alaskari and 50-year-old Sherrie Lynn Boggess were arrested on felony child endangerment and misdemeanor warrants.
The body of Donald Eugene Cunningham, an 83-year-old transient from the Bakersfield area was found in the back of a Jeep Tuesday afternoon. No cause of death was given.
