FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -The Fresno Police Department was honoring some of its officers during a Major Commendation ceremony Wednesday, July 26th at Fresno City Hall.
Mayor Lee Brand joined Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer, along with staff from the Fresno Police Department, and family and friends of the officers to fill city council chambers, as they recognized the men and women whose police work went beyond the normal demands of duty.
“They were the people that were in the right place at the right time, and did the right thing, in some cases to save a life, to perform a rescue, in some cases that’s a child that may have been drowning, or an individual that was stabbed, but they have done incredible things to get to this point.” -Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Chief Dyer says officers were also recognized for their work fighting gang activity and taking down notorious gang members through Operation Slidelock and Operation Dog Track.
In all, 60 Fresno Police officers were recognized for their outstanding work on the Fresno Police force.
