FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A coalition of consumers, advocates and health care experts are gathering Wednesday morning, talking about saving health care for thousands of Central Valley residents.
Some members are from groups including the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California, and the Having Our Say Coalition, and Mi Familia Vota.
“We’re still meeting tomorrow [June 28th, 2017] because we want to make sure our elected officials understand that regardless of the fact that the vote has been delayed we still do not want this healthcare bill to move forward, when it gets to the Senate. Nothing has changed.” – Samuel Molina, State Director, Mi Familia Vota.
The group is meeting Wednesday, June 28th on the corner of Bullard and West in Fresno at 11:00a.m.
“We hold our Central Valley Legislators [Jeff] Denham, [Devin] Nunes, and [David] Valadao accountable for the future of our health, since as soon as there is a vote in the Senate, the bill will go right back to the House. These legislators either never committed to their position about the bill, or even voted in favor of a bill they had previously said they could not support,” says Samuel Molina, State Director, Mi Familia Vota. “I’m hoping that they will listen to them and vote not, especially with everything coming out of the Congressional Budget Office.”
The Congressional Budget Office estimates the Republican plan to overhaul Obamacare would lead to 22-million fewer Americans having health coverage in ten years.
